Have Road Rage? Find Out in Our Quiz

When I was a young boy, I remembered a phrase my mother used to tell me on occasion.  She would begin to speak loudly, pause to look at me and say “earmuffs”.  At that moment, I would press my hands over my ears, drowning out the onslaught of curse words that proceeded to leave her mouth.  The more the vein pulsed on her neck, the more feverishly she would curse. This happened most often in the car when one of two occasions occurred: One, she was cut off by another driver, or two someone did something completely reckless, putting our lives in danger.  Road rage was funny to me then, but since those moments as a child, I’ve come to understand its power.  Do you have road rage?  Find out in a quiz courtesy of Progressive to find out if you fit the bill.

Tips For Keeping Your Car Cool in the Summer

Summer.   The byproduct of pent up pubescent energy, barbequed sausage links, and strangely warm swimming pools. It’s a time of childhood freedom, family road trips, and a generous amount of suntan lotion, all wrapped into a 3-month span.   Driving your vehicle during the summer months can put wear and tear on your car, the extreme heat causing internal frustration and outward sweat spells.  In today’s blog, we suggest ways to keep yourself and your vehicle cool during the summer months.

Our first option is an auto shade that sets in your front window.  It cools your vehicle, and protects your dash from cracking from sun damage.  Make sure your shade:

·      Fits your car fully
·      Dark and reflective shade
·      HEATSHIELD- made to conform to specific makes and models of vehicles.

Another way to drop your car’s temperature is to install a window film, or tints on your vehicle. Several companies’ make a nearly clear film that reflects U.V. and infrared rays.  By keeping your vehicle temperature down, it takes less time for your A/C to cool your car down.  Thus, saving you energy and promoting overall efficiency.  If you have any other options to contribute, please leave a comment below.  Have a great summer!

Learn how to make money just by driving your car!

Have you ever wondered who is sporting the vehicles with the giant advertisements all over them? Have you ever wondered if that person driving the car thinks he’s cool with all of those stickers plastered everywhere? Well he might be more than cool.  He might even be smart, and he might not even work for the company that’s advertising on the side of his car.   How is he smart you ask? He may have found a company that’s willing to pay him to drive around in his car.  So what makes him so smart? Read this to find out.

Vehicle wrapping is a new form of advertisement that allows 3M vinyl wraps to cover a large portion if not the whole thing to the exterior of the car.  But there are some rules to consider.

·      You need to be over 18
·      You must carry insurance
·      You must drive in a populated area
·      You need to park in a populated area
·      You need to drive more than 800 miles per month

If you think you have all those rules down and would like to learn more about car wrapping there are several websites that can tell you how to turn those stickers into cash.  Although we do not endorse these companies in any way, check out paidtowrap.com or just do a Google search on car wrapping.

You can check out some websites to find out more.  Most websites will guide you through the requirements. They can also help you locate advertisers that are looking for you to help spread the word and brand them.
If it all works out you might be able to drive your car for next to nothing.  That's one smart way of making money with your car!

The 2015 NSX will be built right here in the U.S.!

Currently Honda/Acura is seeking a total of 100 skilled technicians and engineers to work at the 184,000 square foot facility in Marysville, Ohio.   These individuals will possess the highest qualifications to assemble and engineer this precision machine.   It’s also nice to know that the NSX will have a come back right here on American soil.
The older model’s production started in Hong Kong  in 1990 and was created up until 2005.  Some of the vehicles were assembled in North America within that time.
Since that time there have been concept cars that have kept us intrigued.  However, a decision to produce the new model has been made and will roll out in 2015.

The older model NSX machines were somewhat of a collector’s item for sports car enthusiasts.  Only 200 vehicles were built per year on the previous model sports car.  It will be interesting to see how many will be built in two years from now.

In the next 24 months the highly qualified personnel will perfect what they are considering a driver and car unison experience.  The precision detailed car has a 1000 point focus on allowing the driver and the machine to perform as one.
The vehicle will continue to be built with the Aluminum V-6 engine. However,
this mean machine will have 2 electric motors that power the front wheels and a separate motor for the dual clutch system.  There is a prediction that the NSX will have approximately 458 horsepower and will be able to hang with the Ferrari crowd.

These units have a base price of $130,000 which is not bad for a High Tech Super car.

Not only is it great to see that the facility will create jobs and careers, they will also be making another high technology super car right here in the good ole U.S.

Top Car Technologies voted by car buyers

Drive Safely!

The Top Car Technologies Voted By Car Buyers

A J.D. Power Report discussed car buyers’ favorite technological advances when it comes to their vehicles.  We all play victim to the vast power and influence of electronics.  From the DVR recorder in our homes we use to record shows like Desperate Housewives and Top Gear, to the iPad that sits on our lap at the dinner table, we’re all connected in one way or the other.  At the dealership, we love new technology.  So, according to J.D. Power and Associates, these are the top 10 technologies car buyers’ need:

1.    Run-flat tires – these tires protect you from a flat by providing an additional 50 miles at 50 mph to get to a gas station after your tire pops.
2.    Navigation Systems – an in-dash navigation system is a great tool for finding your away around.  Use this to find local restaurants, navigate a new city, and in some cases, avoid traffic.
3.    Premium Surround Sound System – everyone can appreciate a great sound system.  How else can you listen to Michael Jackson’s Thriller at full blast?
4.    Back-up Assist – SUVs are especially avid at including these.  Back-up assist acts as a rear-view camera that boosts your visibility when backing up.  Great for avoiding objects like bicycles and other vehicles.
5.    Heated/Cooled Seats – These seats have small “pinholes” that emit cool (or hot) air to flow from a fan or air condition unit embedded in the seats.
6.    Keyless Entry System – Keyless entry is easy because the small keyless sensor stays in your pocket or purse, allowing you to start your car remotely.  By being in close proximity you can unlock dorrs and push a button on the dash to start your engine.

These are just a few of the tech that people need to have, for the full list visit http://www.latimes.com/classified/automotive/highway1/la-hy-tech.pg,0,5168532.photogallery

Keep it clean but be safe about it!

Keeping your car clean is great but making sure that it doesn't damage your car can be challenging.  Here are some tips that will help you prevent the damage from the experts at Bernardi Honda of Natick

Let’s face it, you spend a lot of money on purchasing a vehicle so don’t let a car wash ruin your investment.   In this weeks blog we discuss some hot tips that can help keep your car looking it’s best,  and can help prevent dangerous situations.  Let’s start by discussing your privacy, something many people overlook when getting their car detailed or washed.

You should never leave change out for someone to be tempted. This may also prevent break ins.  Lock up your personal info. A car registration has your address on it. Take precaution when working with strangers. Yelp is a valuable resource if you need to research a car wash. After time the people that work at the car wash may get to know you and trust will be built by how often you take it there.

Frequency of washing your car depends on a few factors.  If you are in a state that the roads are salted or parking under trees with a lot of birds you may want to wash the car once a week.  However, if the car is parked in a garage, or rarely gets dirty once a month is sufficient.
Now we’ve talked about how often, let’s talk about what a good car wash looks like.

A good car wash is one that uses cloth instead of brushes that can leave scratches.Once the clear coat is damaged the entire car needs to be repainted. All new vehicles have a clear coat finish.

Make sure they are using fresh, clean towels when they wipe down the car after the wash is over.  Towels that are being reused are often like sandpaper due to the dirt that was on the previous vehicle.

Don’t be fooled by getting talked into the extras.  For the amount of a bottle of Armor All, you will be saving more than if you opt to getting the attendant to spray your tires.

Don’t forget to get the underbody done.  This will help your car to perform better and can really make a difference in the longevity of the vehicle being free from rust and salt.

Stay away from harsh chemicals that can cause damage if you’re a DIY kinda person.  A friend of mine used dishwashing liquid on his black car and on a hot summer day. The car was damaged permanently with swirl marks. When he traded his car in he got 20% less value because of the cars finish.

That’s it for this week, but if you would like to find a reputable car wash in your area feel free to contact us.  We will also appraise your car free of charge if you’re curious about trading it in. Call us at 800) 254-0013
